Your family photos stay yours
Plain English, written to match what the app actually does. This page explains our practices; it is not legal advice.
What we store
When you use Color Your Memories we store:
- Your account — the email address you signed in with (or the one your Google account shares with us) and an optional family display name.
- Your photos and coloring pages — the photo you upload and the coloring page generated from it, kept in a private storage area.
- Your colouring — artwork you paint on a page, saved to your account and also cached in your browser on the device you painted with.
- Books and titles — the names you give pages and books.
- Usage and billing records — how many coloring pages you generated in the current month, your plan, and (if you ever subscribe) the subscription identifiers our payment processor gives us. We never see or store your card number.
- Printed-book interest — if you ask to be told about printed books, the contact email, country, postcode and options you enter on that form.
Private by default
Every photo, coloring page and piece of artwork is scoped to your account at the database level. Other signed-in people cannot read your rows, and images are served through short-lived private links rather than public URLs.
There is no public gallery, no social feed, no profile pages and no sharing between accounts. Nothing you upload is used to advertise the product.
How your photo is turned into a coloring page
A coloring page is a transformation of your photo, not a new illustration. The core step runs a deterministic line-extraction process directly on the pixels of the photo you uploaded, which is what keeps the people, poses, framing and composition exactly as they were.
Where an AI refinement step is available, it is used only to clean up those lines, and the result is measured against the deterministic version. If the output drifts from your photo's structure it is rejected and the faithful version is used instead. AI refinement, when it runs, sends the image to a third-party model provider for processing. It is not used to train models on your family photos.
Keeping and deleting things
Your pages stay in your library until you delete them. Deleting a page removes the photo you uploaded, the coloring page made from it and any colouring you saved on it. Deleting a book removes the pages inside it.
Your browser also keeps a local copy of in-progress colouring so a page keeps its colours offline. You can clear that from Settings on each device.
Full one-click account deletion is not built yet. Until it is, deleting your books and pages removes the stored images, and you can email us to have the account itself removed.
Children and families
This is a product for parents and carers to use with their families. Accounts are intended for adults; children are expected to color on a grown-up's account rather than have their own. Please only upload photos you are comfortable being responsible for — including photos of other people's children.
Who else is involved
We use service providers to run the product: a hosting and database provider (which stores your account, library and private images), an AI model provider for the optional line refinement step, and a payment processor for subscriptions. They process this data on our behalf to deliver the service.
What we do not do
- We do not publish, sell or share your family photos.
- We do not show your library to anyone but you.
- We do not run advertising or ad tracking in the app.
